Approval given to permanently expand Allerton C of E Primary School

At the meeting of the council’s Executive Board on 21 March 2018, final approval was given on the permanent expansion of Allerton C of E Primary School from a capacity of 420 pupils to 630 pupils, with an increase in the admission number from 60 to 90 with effect from September 2018.

At its meeting on 13 December 2017, Leeds City Council’s Executive Board approved the publication of a Statutory Notice relating to the expansion of Allerton Church of England Primary School.

A formal proposal has now been published. This is known as a statutory notice, which is published at the start of a period during which representations can be made to the local authority. The statutory notice period runs from 8 January 2018 to 4pm on 5 February 2018.

The proposal is to expand Allerton Church of England Primary School from a capacity of 420 pupils to 630 pupils with an increase in the admission number from 60 to 90 with effect from September 2018.

The full statutory notice is available to view via this link: http://www.leeds.gov.uk/residents/Pages/Statutory-notices.aspx

Please do not submit responses to the statutory notice using this site. Any responses should be made in writing to The Capacity Planning and Sufficiency Team, c/o Leeds Town Hall, PO Box 837, Leeds City Council, LS1 9PZ, or by email to educ.school.organisation@leeds.gov.uk to reach us no later than 4pm on 8 February 2018.

At its meeting on 13 December, Leeds City Council’s Executive Board approved the recommendation to publish a statutory notice with regard to the proposal to expand Allerton C of E Primary School from 2018. It is expected that a statutory notice will be published during January 2018 –  a further update will be provided here in due course.

The consultation on a proposal to expand primary school places at Allerton Church of England Primary School has now ended. The consultation responses are currently being analysed and a further update on next steps will be given in due course.

Update 6 December 2017 – A report detailing the outcomes of the consultation will be presented to Leeds City Council’s Executive Board on 13 December 2017. A link to the report can be found here. We will update this page with the outcome of Executive Board’s decision following this meeting.

Update 9 November 2017 – It had been anticipated that the outcome of the consultation would be reported to Leeds City Council’s Executive Board by October. However due to the commencement of a consultation on a separate proposal in the Roundhay area we now need to consider what impact that proposal might have on places in the Alwoodley area, which is in part due to the interaction between these two areas. In addition to this, a number of key issues were raised in the consultation which we continue to investigate. It is our intention to report the outcomes of the consultation at Allerton C of E to Executive Board on 13 December 2017 following which a further update will be given.

Consultation on a proposal to expand primary school places at Allerton Church of England Primary School

In order to address a growing pressure on school places, Leeds City Council has permanently increased primary places across the Alwoodley and Roundhay areas over a number of years and more recently additional places (bulge cohorts) have been agreed at a number of local schools on a temporary basis. This includes Allerton C of E Primary School.  We anticipate that there will be a continued demand on places and as we have provided physical accommodation to enable the school to admit additional children on three separate occasions, it is appropriate for us to consult on whether this should become a permanent change, as the statutory guidance from the Department for Education recommends.

 The consultation is on a proposal to expand primary provision at Allerton C of E Primary School from a capacity of 420 to 630 pupils, with an increase to the admission number from 60 to 90 in reception from September 2018. The consultation period will run from Mon 26 June 2017 to 4pm on Fri 21 July 2017 and during this time there will be three drop-in sessions at the school which will be open to parents, local residents and other interested parties where you can have your say or find out more. The dates of the drop-in sessions are as follows:

Monday 26 June – 5:00pm-7:00pm;
Monday 3 July – 8:30am-9:30am;
Thursday 13 July – 2:45pm-4:00pm
