Consultation on a proposal to expand Hunslet Moor Primary School from 2018

Due to an increase in the number of children aged 0-5 who live in the Holbeck school planning area, it has been identified that additional school places are required  to meet increased future demand from local families.  In developing a proposal to provide additional school places we have considered local demographics, the preference patterns of families, highways issues and the location of any new housing.

We are now seeking your views on the following proposal: To expand Hunslet Moor Primary School from a capacity of 315 to 420 pupils and to increase the admission limit in reception from 45 to 60 pupils from September 2018.

This consultation will run from Monday 29 February 2016 to Friday 25 March at 4pm and during this time there will be drop-in sessions at the school where you can have your say or find out more.

The drop-in sessions will be held at Hunslet Moor Primary School as follows:

Wednesday 16 March,  1:15pm – 5:15pm
Thursday 24 March,  8:30am – 9:30am

  1. I will respond formally to the consultation but I wanted to initially comment that the Hunslet Moor consultation web page was quite difficult to find. I received a leaflet over the weekend directing me to the schools consultation webpage. Firstly, I looked under the Hunslet section as this is the correct location of the school (the clue is in the name). I then checked under Beeston as the area is commonly identified as such, although mistakenly in my opinion. I didn’t check under Holbeck as the school is nowhere near Holbeck. Only after doing an online search using the school name did I discover the consultation page. I think that this categorisation is likely to mislead many people and make the online consultation documents difficult to find.

I also found the layout of the page confusing as the option to select Holbeck only appears as an option in the grey box lower down the page on the left hand side. Under the main area headings above this Holbeck does not feature.
